I want to wear a copy of that convention badge VM posted to the next assembly.
"Who will conquer the world in the 1970's?"
I'll fill in those two blanks thusly:
DELEGATE: NOBODY,
CONGREGATION: APPARENTLY!!
will he manage to make it for the entire hour of the bookstudy or will he open his mouth and - well, you know moshe!.

Your poor wife is feeling like all the security she knows is being yanked out from under her. I would have felt the same way a few short years ago. Really, she is being loyal. Isn't that one quality you used to value in her?
This takes time. Love must be shown.
Quandry is spot on...
She loves you, and is likely thinking "I'm not going to get to live with him forever, like I dreamed, in a paradise. Now what?"
Be patient. Reassure her of your love, that you're not leaving her. I'm finding that not forcing points is good enough. She sees me happy, normal, our kids happy and normal, and is gradually (and, more importanty, of her own accord) widening her thinking and perceptions of things.
We always hope the ones we love will wake up (the ironic trouble is... she is hoping the same thing about you. Horrible, isn't it...)
That's exactly what I'm dealing with, bless her heart.
the kh i visited had just a few newer books ( none before about 1980, it appeared) and a handful of assorted bound volumes- on the shelf was a stack of what looked like "copies" of the wt cd of books and magazines.
is this common a kh's today?
it was a pretty new kh, 3 congs used it.
There is only one good use for a KH library... and I intend to take advantage of it to leverage the natural curiosity of people, and help some of those still "in" to see what REALLY goes on behind the scenes at the KH. Somebody hinted at it when they said nobody really uses the books in the library. There is a lot of truth to that... and it makes my plan easier to execute.
More details to follow... another time...
i'm sorely tempted to picket the 2008 memorial.
i will go in disguise and carry a placard with the words :-.
"the governing body of jehovah's witnesses are false prophets.
Tula has it right... if you do this, use their OWN history on them:
* "RELIGION IS A SNARE AND A RACKET" and "MILLIONS NOW LIVING (IN 1919) WILL NEVER DIE" on wearable sandwich boards
* Make a "sound car" and play Rutherford's recordings to them. Make up a compilation of the juciest tidbits with teachings that are no longer accepted. Hang a banner on the side of the sound car "Judge Rutherford Speaks!" so they know who they are hearing (I bet 99 out of 100 Witnesses couldn't pick Rutherford's voice out of a lineup... that's how much their history is blurred/buried).
when i was a teenager, my family and i had the privilege of visiting the watch tower society, receiving an extensive tour as we had longtime friends working there.
while visiting we were walking past a locked chamber with many many books in it that absolutely no one was able to touch or read.
this was literature that was written/published by charles taze russell.
I don't know the answer to your question about old books at Bethel, but...

"We'd like to announce that there will be a KH cleanup after field service on Saturday. If you had planned to engage in any valueless things on Saturday afternoon, please rest assured of Jehovah's blessing on your change of plans, and be here at 1:00 with your gloves, rakes, and shovels. Bookstudy overseers, please take note of those in your group who do not support this theocratic event."
i beg to differ!
it can be quite the spiritual experience!

my mother in law was diagnosed with breast cancer in october.
had the surgery and they found it metastized to the lungs.
she is doing chemotherapy now, but the cancer is spread pretty wide and thus an organization called making memories has given her a one last wish grant of $6000.
Prophecor,
Is that your car? Do you get nervous in windstorms? :-)
